Food processor

So I am thinking that I need one of these. I am going to our second gourmet dinner on Saturday - it is Gourmet Mexican theme. We got Corn Pudding - Anyway, I looked at the ingredients and how to make it and it seemed fairly easy. Then I read that everything was prepared using a food processor...I don't have one. Do I need it? Should I buy one? How often do any of you use yours if you have it? Please help! :)

Shel - can you use your blender?
What needs to be processed? the corn? Sandi has a recipe called confetti scalloped corn she got on "about.com". She puts it in a crockpot and if you cook it quite awhile it is like corn pudding.

I used to use my food processor a lot. But I hardly ever pull it out now. I love all the different attachments though. The grating attachment makes grating a breeze, no more bloody knuckles. :)

I have the blender/food processor combo but I don't really use it that much. I seem to go in spurts where I use it a lot then I go a long time without touching it but it is good to have on hand.

I have one. We got it for our Wedding 18 years ago today. It's sitting on the uppermost shelf in our garage, because it's quite bulky, and because I had to be honest with myself after it sat n the cabinet for three years, having used it once to chop carrots. Because it was a gift from my sister in law, I could hardly get rid of it. But now 15 years to the day later, I think it's time to let go of it. Goodwill has lots of shelves filled with cassette tape recorders and VCR machines, I think it's time to start a new glut on the shelves. I will report that I did have a small little cuissinart chopper that I did use for a while, until i decided I needed a mandolin slicer. It takes up less space, right? I think I've used it 3 times. I think I'll have to look myself in the mirror on that one in another couple of years. What I would recommend, is collecting up all f your bed bath and beyond coupons that never expire, and getting some good knives. Really good ones that cost more than a heavy duty Cuissinart when it's all said and done. Less is more. I'm buying knives for the next wedding gift. It's in the books now, and there's no changing it. Happy Cooking!
